Last week someone was on Twitter and complained of 10 months of having the song THIS IS HOW WE DO IT running as a tape loop in their head – unwanted nonstop. I tried finding that person after getting the song stuck in *my* head (on purpose) to test whether I could remove it by matching a song of a speed with one percent of the speed of the song. I did an analysis:

I’m kinda buzz its all because THIS IS HOW WE DO IT !
As we see it is a song that is catchy for most, *too* catchy for others.
The METHOD to remove this earworm would be to find another song at a speed within 1% of the original and literally play the offending song while yelling the lyrics of one or more of these songs with it. If this problem happens to you – 1) I heard about an app called “unhearit” which through some algorithm employs the same method. Whether they use exact tempo or not I have no idea am not affiliated with the company.
