The Speed of the Theme from the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, co-written by C.F. who is a self-professed drummer, and has laughed at Phil Collins’ playing – so Craig: have him on! Like a party at David Bowie or Eric Clapton’s house.

The Craig Ferguson theme is as an an excellent theme ought to try to be – short, personal, fun without being intrusive.  I was not surprised that Mr. Ferguson was a drummer.

It’s hard to stay up
It’s been a long, long day
And you’ve got the sandman at your door.

But hang on, leave the TV on
and let’s do it anyway.

It’s okay.
You can always sleep through work tomorrow
Okay! Hey hey!
Tomorrow’s just your future yesterday.

—Complete theme song from The Late Late Sh

When Ferguson was hired as the full-time replacement for Craig Kilborn, he co-wrote and recorded a new theme song.

Beginning July 7, 2006, the show’s theme featured only the ending of the original song, though by January 2, 2008 the full theme had returned, mostly intact.

I think if Craig could land a guest list of Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and David Boie on the same show, in the running versus Conan as to who the next Johnny *could* be, talk about talk-show cred, dude!  (I can call you dude now that you are American).

Seriously, all of their careers could use it, but in your case, It would put you ahead of Conan and Steve Colbert as daily American humorists.
